(Port City Daily/File photo)BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Brunswick County Public Utilities reported a discharge of untreated wastewater from a damaged sewer line tap near 101 S. Middleton Dr. in Calabash after a two-inch sewer tap gate valve failedAccording to a public notice, the sanitary sewer overflow was discovered by Public Utilities staff at approximately 1:12 p.m. on Jan. 28. Staff investigated the site and determined the valve failure caused the discharge. Crews began repairing the valve at approximately 1:30 p.m. and completed the repair by 2:15 p.m. the same day.
