Residents have been warned by the City of Windhoek to be aware of scammers who are calling residents and requesting they make payments to avoid having their municipal service disconnected.
The City said that this is a scam, and they have not authorised anyone to call residents requesting payments via e-wallet payments, EFT or online payments.
“All payments for municipal services should be made at our cash halls when paying with cash and not in the streets.
“Our banking details are City of Windhoek at FNB, Account number 55500033613, FNB Business branch and Swift FIRNNANX.”They urged residents to always quote their 8 digit account number, reflected on the municipal statement as beneficiary reference, when making payments and that payment confirmation should be sent via email to [email protected].
“Residents are also warned to refrain from providing fraudulent proof of payment documents to our offices, as it is a criminal offense.”
