An important road in Cambridge is set to receive some significant upgrades thanks to millions of dollars in investment from the Region of Waterloo. The region is investing $2.3 million to upgrade the portion of Can-Amera Parkway that connects Hespeler Road to Franklin Boulevard. The proposed upgrades are set to replace those narrow sidewalks with a three-metre-wide multi-use path on either side of the roadway, new streetlights, improved Grand River Transit stops, and an additional guardrail on the roadway’s north side. Staff are set to return with more detailed designs in February, with the tendering process for construction to begin in March. Construction is set to begin this summer, which could lead to traffic delays in that area of Cambridge while the project is underway.
