The direct link is also expected to enhance access for international visitors coming to the province. Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and the main carrier serving Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation hubs. The airline said the Calgary route will deepen its presence in North America while strengthening Alberta’s direct access to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and beyond through Abu Dhabi. Officials note the service will be the only nonstop flight connecting the Middle East with Western Canada, marking a major milestone for Calgary International Airport and the province’s global connectivity.
