January 29, 2026RED FM News DeskBritish Columbia Premier David Eby is sharply criticizing reported meetings between members of Alberta’s separatist movement and U.S. officials, calling the actions deeply inappropriate and amounting to treason. According to the report, the meetings have taken place since April. Eby said while discussions around Canada’s future, including calls for referendums, are part of a healthy democratic process, seeking assistance from a foreign government crosses a serious line. “There’s a difference between debating issues within Canada and asking another country to help dismantle the country,” Eby said. Eby added that the situation is particularly concerning given past comments and actions by U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he said has shown little respect for Canadian sovereignty.
