Johnston County Braces For Snow, Wind And Extreme ColdJOHNSTON COUNTY – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Johnston County and the rest of central North Carolina, with forecasters warning that heavy snow, strong winds and dangerously cold temperatures could disrupt travel, power and daily life from Friday afternoon through Sunday. The National Weather Service said Johnston County could see 5 to 8 inches of snow, with locally higher totals possible if narrow bands of heavier snowfall develop. In addition to snow, an Extreme Cold Watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Sunday morning. Wind chills in Johnston County could fall as low as zero degrees, posing a risk of frostbite and hypothermia for anyone exposed for extended periods. The Extreme Cold Watch is in effect from 1:00 A.M. Sunday to 10:00 A.M. Sunday.
