Spread the wordFounder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Dr Chris Okafor, has raised concerns over alleged cyberbullying, calling for stricter regulation of Nigeria’s digital space.
Okafor said his personal experience with online attacks became more painful after a wedding planner allegedly leaked details of his remarriage plans, which he claimed fuelled further speculation and misinformation.
Reacting to the allegations, Okafor said bloggers and influencers amplified the claims without verification or giving him a fair opportunity to respond.
He noted that although a few offenders are sometimes arrested, most escape accountability, encouraging the spread of falsehoods online.
Okafor called on the National Assembly to enact laws regulating digital activities, adding that cybercrime agencies should intensify efforts to track and prosecute offenders.
