By Danielle Witten and Genevive MaciasFor Humboldt County, the work of supporting literacy in our schools is critical, as many districts are too small to independently fund comprehensive literacy supports. The Humboldt County Office of Education helps bridge that gap by leveraging state resources to provide shared support across districts. HCOE, through its Early Education Department, continues to sponsor family-focused events throughout the region. Early exposure to numeracy supports not only the development of math skills but also strengthens early reading abilities.
