SAN JOSE — A fatal pedestrian collision reported in East San Jose on Tuesday morning involved a van driver who hit a woman walking in a shopping center parking lot, police said.
The collision was reported at 11:17 a.m. in a lot near Lido Way and Thackeray Lane.
Her name was not publicly released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, but available coroner records indicate she was a 45-year-old San Jose resident.
The collision marked the city’s second traffic death of the year investigated by San Jose police, and also the second involving a pedestrian who died.
On Sunday evening, a man walking near South Bascom Avenue and Borello Drive in West San Jose was killed by a hit-and-run driver; and police have not announced any arrests or suspect information in that case.
