Mississippi Road Update: Parts of I-55 remain closed because of black ice on road

Interstate 55 northbound remains closed as crews work to clear hazardous conditions caused by overnight black ice accumulation, according to transportation officials.
In a news release from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said additional black ice formed overnight on the interstate, preventing the roadway from reopening as scheduled.
MDOT crews are actively working to clear the right lane of I-55 northbound and expect conditions to improve later this morning.
Crews will also continue operations throughout the day to clear Interstate 22 and the left lane of Interstate 55 as winter weather impacts persist.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division will continue diverting traffic on I-55 northbound from Exit 243 in Batesville to the Tennessee state line.
