The Lorain County Solid Waste Management District’s Plastic Bag Recycling Collection Contest successfully diverted hundreds of pounds of plastic grocery bags from landfills, the district reported. Due to the success of the program, a second Plastic Grocery Bag Recycling School Contest is underway. It will run through May 16, which coincides with Lorain County Beautiful Day. To participate, place clean, dry grocery or shopping bags into a single plastic grocery bag and bring to the Lorain County Collection Center. Hours of the Lorain County Collection Center are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.
