The Trump administration has issued a response to Bruce Springsteen’s fiery ICE protest song “Streets of Minneapolis,” stating that the White House is not focused on “random songs with irrelevant opinions and inaccurate information.”White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson issued a statement to Variety about the song, which Springsteen released on Wednesday.
“The Trump Administration is focused on encouraging state and local Democrats to work with federal law enforcement officers on removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens from their communities — not random songs with irrelevant opinions and inaccurate information,” said Jackson.
“It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
Popular on VarietyJust this morning, Springsteen released a lyric video for the protest song in an impassioned indictment of the Trump administration’s presence in the Minnesota city that has resulted in the deaths of two people.
The clip shows Springsteen recording the song amid disturbing footage from ICE’s clashes with demonstrators in the city.
