AFTER almost 100 years in business, a beloved candy company filed for bankruptcy this month.
Primrose Candy Company has been operating in Chicago, Illinois, since 1928, and instantly became known for taffy, hard candy, and even flavored popcorn around the city and the country.
“You can’t keep up with your pricing to absorb all those costs when you have a lot of old debt that you also have to service,” the attorney noted.
Additionally, the candy company faces some lawsuits, including a class action that claims Primrose illegally collected staff members’ fingerprints without obtaining their written consent.
