advertisementActivities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its affiliate ministries, departments, and agencies picked up on Wednesday following workers’ resumption after the National Industrial Court ordered the suspension of the indefinite strike.
Story continues below advertisementReacting to the ruling, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, directed workers to immediately return to their duty posts, stressing that while protest is a recognised democratic right, judicial orders must not be disregarded.
“Yes, in a democracy, people have the right to protest, but court orders must be obeyed,” the minister was quoted as saying.
Story continues below advertisementThe circular instructed Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies to open attendance registers and ensure full staff presence, reaffirming that the FCTA remained committed to addressing workers’ concerns in line with established procedures.
According to Vanguard, a visit to several FCTA offices and affiliated agencies revealed that many workers had resumed duties, with some seen attending to routine assignments.
