But happily, God then entered into a second covenant, which we call the Covenant of Grace, with Jesus Christ as the Mediator. However, the condition of this Covenant of Grace is not our perfect obedience, but Christ’s obedience, which we receive by faith alone. Romans 10:4 therefore says, “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” That means that if we are in Christ, then we are freed from the Law as a Covenant of Works. Yet, in Christ, the Law as such is not taken away, only its condemning power. But if you are resting in Christ, then the obedience required and punishment warranted under the Law have been fulfilled.
