USI has entered a pivotal stage in the university reaccreditation process with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), launching a campus-wide self-study that will shape the federal accreditation review in 2027. The process now underway centers on a comprehensive self-evaluation conducted by faculty and staff committees representing a cross-section of USI. Their work will prepare for a submission to the HLC in January 2027, followed by an on-site peer review visit in February of that year. Later this year, USI will host a mock campus visit with external peer reviewers with HLC experience. The exercise is intended to help faculty, staff, and administrators prepare for the official evaluation by simulating interviews, feedback sessions and document reviews.
