The Adirondack Council once recommended extending the St. Regis Canoe Area to encompass the ponds south of Floodwood Road. We intended to ski from Floodwood Road to the Fish Creek State Campground (closed in winter) and return via a different trail, traveling in a lollipop loop. “It’s nice because you’re in the woods.”At 1.5 miles, after skirting the east side of Floodwood Pond, we came to a signed junction. Or we could ski to the pond’s north end and follow a carry trail to Floodwood Pond. After skirting Floodwood Pond, Sabrina and Phil started skiing along the Adirondack Rail Trail.
