FEMA allocates funding packages for Western North Carolina recovery

The two funding packages include a recent $230 million allocation announced on Jan. 28 and a prior $116 million allocation announced on Jan. 14.
Additionally, $22.9 million is allocated to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for repairs to critical infrastructure.
Key projects under this funding include $1.8 million for restoring the Lake Lure Marina, which sustained extensive damage, and investments to improve overall disaster response capabilities across Western North Carolina.
In contrast, the previously announced $116 million funding from Jan. 14 focuses on long-term infrastructure restoration and future hazard mitigation efforts.
