The Mississippi State Department of Health has announced that some county health departments will remain closed for the fourth day in a row as areas in the northern and Delta regions reel from the impact of Winter Storm Fern.
County health departments closed on Thursday are in Alcorn, Carroll, DeSoto, Lafayette, Panola, Quitman, Sharkey, Tallahatchie, Tate, and Tippah counties.
While those 10 are closed for the day and will possibly be closed again on Friday, the number is down from Monday’s peak of 54 county health departments being closed due to the weather.
“The safety of the public and our staff is our top priority,” a news release said.
Additionally, the agency has deployed three ambulances to provide emergency medical services in Yalobusha County.
