Downtown Calhoun businesses are inviting the community to celebrate Valentine’s Day by shopping local during a “Love Local Social” event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is part of a series of five smaller gatherings planned throughout the year with the goal of increasing foot traffic, community engagement and economic activity in the downtown district. Participating businesses will offer residents an opportunity to explore local shops while supporting small, locally owned retailers. Organizers say the Valentine’s Day event is designed to provide a festive way for couples, families and friends to mark the holiday while helping strengthen the local business community.
