The Mirage, a 40-liter framed backpack in the Alchemy line, is perhaps the lightest pack of its size at just 19.4 ounces. So far, Gossamer Gear is the only brand brave enough to release a pack made with V52, the lightest version of the fabric. Very few ultralight packs have horizontal support like this, so it does feel a bit odd. In general, ultralight packs have gotten heavier in recent years: Most brands opt for burlier, more durable fabrics and add-ons like extra pockets.
