‌In 2021, Natural England wrote to Cornwall Council concerning phosphate pollution in the River Camel. The pollution is affecting the River Camel Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and has led to a temporary ban on house building and other development in the area. ‌There is now a push for a more effective way of reducing pollution in the Camel catchment area. It improves water quality in the River Camel and helps us move forward on our priorities."
