Eight family members, including a pastor, have been arraigned before a court in Bolgatanga following the brutal killing of two elderly women at Sumaduri-Tempane in the Upper East Region over allegations of witchcraft. Acting on this belief, the family allegedly mobilised and attacked the two women, leading to their deaths. They were subsequently arraigned before the court, where they are expected to face charges relating to murder and conspiracy. Witchcraft accusations continue to fuel violence against vulnerable people, particularly elderly women, in some parts of the country. The court has adjourned the case to a later date as investigations continue.
