The new revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has announced lead casting. The multi-award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler follows a barber hell-bent on revenge. Sweeney Todd will be directed by the Rep’s artistic director Joe Murphy and feature design by Elin Steele. Set to star will be Ramin Karimloo, taking on the role of the tortured Barber. He said today: “I’ve long known there would be a time and a place to step into the world of Stephen Sondheim and to explore the complexity of Benjamin Barker.
