A judge has ordered a San Rafael woman who killed her mother to be confined at a state hospital indefinitely.
Tonantzyn Oris Beltran, 30, went on trial last fall in Marin County Superior Court for fatally stabbing Olivia Beltran.
Following the verdict, Judge Geoffrey Howard said he planned to have the defendant placed in custody at a state hospital.
The homicide happened in 2024 at the victim’s apartment on Cresta Way in northern San Rafael.
Jurors determined that Beltran’s mental illness made her incapable of knowing the attack against her mother was wrong.
