A 46-year-old Macomb County man with a history of shoplifting arrests has been charged with stealing $1,400 worth of groceries this week from a Kroger store in Shelby Township, according to police. Kevin Willinger of Mount Clemens was arraigned Wednesday, Jan. 28 in 41B District Court in Shelby Township on charges of first-degree retail fraud. A Shelby Township officer was in the area and began driving toward the vehicle’s reported direction of travel. Meanwhile, a detective arrived at Kroger and reviewed video surveillance where he obtained the license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle and saw the stolen merchandise inside of it.
