Newport Children’s Theatre has received a grant from the van Beuren Charitable Foundation to purchase professional theatrical costumes and expand its inventory of period and specialty pieces. The grant will allow the nonprofit youth theater organization to stage productions featuring up to five costume changes per performer, according to a news release from the organization. “We are deeply grateful to the van Beuren Charitable Foundation for their commitment to children, families, and the vitality of our community,” said Jennifer Berton, president of the board of directors. Newport Children’s Theatre said the grant will also help keep tuition affordable and expand access to financial aid. Newport Children’s Theatre is led by Artistic Director Tara O’Hare.
