Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed Thursday morning in Colorado’s Clear Creek County for a crash near Silverthorne, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
As of 9:55 a.m. Thursday, eastbound I-70 was closed between exit 218 for Herman Gulch, about 13 miles east of Silverthorne, and exit 221 for Bakerville, about 7 miles west of Silver Plume, according to state transportation officials.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash and several people were injured, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office.
Eastbound traffic is stopped at the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnel, and westbound drivers are also experiencing delays in the area, sheriff’s officials said.
Drivers should take alternate routes where possible and avoid the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
