A grant from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund helped the Village of Sister Bay to secure Pebble Beach. The Assembly passed two Republican-authored bills on Jan. 22 that opponents say significantly weaken the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, while supporters describe them as a necessary compromise to keep the program alive. Carlin said the Senate bills are unlikely to pass on a party-line vote. “The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program is absolutely critical to the Door County Land Trust’s mission,” Wood said.
