Interesting Engineering
The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input from states interested in hosting Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses.
This initiative is designed to modernize the domestic nuclear fuel cycle by establishing regional hubs that integrate the entire value chain of nuclear energy production and material management.
The proposed campuses are envisioned as integrated hubs that support activities across the entire nuclear fuel lifecycle.
This includes fuel fabrication, enrichment, the reprocessing of used nuclear fuel, and the responsible disposition of waste.
Integration of advanced reactors and modern computing Beyond fuel management, these sites are also intended to host the deployment of advanced reactors and power generation facilities.
