H-O-NAY Say goodbye to HOAs? New law could end hated groups – and stop dreaded foreclosuresHOMEOWNERS could have the power to dissolve their hated HOAs if newly introduced bills are passed into law. Under the current law, the board can oust homeowners if they owe merely $2,000 or more in unpaid fees. The law would also prevent HOAs from foreclosing on homes, and all unpaid fines would be considered a regular debt and not a lien. Under the law, homes could not be foreclosed upon for any unpaid bills, cities and utilities couldn’t use tax sales against a home, and homeowners could sue if their property was wrongfully sold.
