Published January 29, 2026Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...Johnny Franklin Hurst, age 83, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at his home. In addition to his parents, Johnny was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Williamson Hurst; three brothers, James Hurst, George Henry Hurst and Roscoe Thurman Hurst; five sisters, Loretta Jones, Anita Hurst, Barbara Barnes, Audrey Cooper and Mary Sue Presley; and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Booth. Those left to cherish his memory include three children, Ronald Raeford Booth, Cynthia Sulou Russell and husband Phillip, and Anna LaRue Hurst and husband Michael White; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline Crowe, Bertha Mayes and Arlene Walker; one brother, Jessie E. Hurst; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Hurst, Genevieve Hurst and Dottie Smith. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Johnny Franklin Hurst will be conducted at noon Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Mike Fritts officiating. Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton is honored to serve the Hurst family.
