US wholesale prices for live North American lobster (Homarus americanus) surged yet again in week five of 2025 (Jan. 26-Feb. 1) as the recent winter storm that hit the Atlantic Coast of North America froze lobster landings. Supply of new-shell lobster was severely curtailed due to the storm impeding fishing in the US Northeast. One dealer said on Tuesday that boats in the US state of Maine had not been out for more than a week. As a result, prices for new-shell lobster hit season highs for the second week running.
