A driver was seriously injured early Thursday, Jan. 29, when the motorist’s vehicle crashed into the back of a semi-tractor trailer, prompting an emergency extrication in La Jolla. Officers responded around 2:50 a.m. to reports of a four-door Honda wedged beneath the trailer on North Torrey Pines Road near Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines, according to the San Diego Police Department. The driver of the Honda reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries. Personnel from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department rescued the Honda driver and provided medical assistance at the scene, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert indicating debris removal could take several hours, causing traffic impacts in the area.
