RUSSELL Findlay has been branded a “moustache twirling villain” after a pledge to introduce a two-child cap on the Scottish Child Payment. The Tories now wish to introduce the measure in Scotland, limiting Scottish Child Payment – a weekly payment of £27.15 for every child under 16 in lower-income families credited with reducing the rate of child poverty in Scotland – to two children if elected. “The SNP have already been caught making false claims about the effectiveness of their flagship Scottish Child Payment. The Greens, in the past have voted for expansions to the child payment and lobbied for an expansion of free school meals to S1-S3 pupils who receive the Scottish Child Payment. Thanks to policies introduced by the SNP, including the Scottish Child Payment, far fewer children in Scotland live in poverty than in the rest of the UK”
