The truck involved in the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge accident on Thursday morning was not overweight. This is according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Works. “The Ministry wishes to categorically dismiss any rumors or misinformation suggesting that the truck involved was overweight. The truck was transporting cement across the bridge when it suffered a mechanical failure. Scott Dorwart, who was in one of the vehicles behind the truck, lost his life in the accident.
