‘Professional thief’ stole Range Rover and jewellery in Bridge of Allan holiday heist

A “professional thief” who stole a private-plated Range Rover, luxury jewellery and handbags from a home in Bridge of Allan has been jailed.
However, “amateur” Barnes jettisoned the crowbar in his victim’s bedroom and police were able to return a DNA hit.
Barnes was convicted following a jury trial at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Barnes’ solicitor Mark Hutchison conceded: “There’s a number of analogous matters.”‘Organised, professional thief’Minutes after the jury returned its verdict, Sheriff James Williamson jailed Barnes for three years.
“This is a man who has a record of some considerable length, who’s had considerable sentences before and who in any view is an organised, professional thief.
