The three Republican candidates for Massachusetts Governor are blasting the FY27 budget proposal unveiled by Gov. Healey’s budget plan would hike spending by 3.8% over the FY26 budget she signed over the summer with tax revenues projected to rise by just 2.9%. Healey’s budget was built on an estimate that the state will collect $44.9 billion in tax revenue, 2.9% more than expected in FY27. The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance is also criticizing Healey’s budget proposal, pointing out the jump in spending under the Healey Administration along with lagging unrestricted local aid. “At a time when state spending has exploded year after year, cities and towns are being told to make do with crumbs.
