Online sports betting platform, SportyBet has explained the reason why access to betting slips was restricted on Wednesday night, blaming it on some technical issues. Recall that on Wednesday night, while 18 UEFA Champions League matches were being played simultaneously across Europe, thousands of Nigerian bettors say they suddenly lost access to their betting slips on SportyBet, a sports betting platform, right in the middle of live games. SportyBet later issued a statement saying a technical issue temporarily affected the visibility of open bets for some users and that the problem has since been resolved. On Tuesday, many users reported that both of these features were unavailable at crucial points in the game. Users have reported the betting platform to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), claiming unfair business practices and financial losses.
