Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a federal holiday. Then, in 1994, Congress designated Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a national day of service. Cal Poly Humboldt’s student-led volunteer service organization, Youth Education Services (Y.E.S), with support from campus partners, has embraced this call, turning the national day of service into a tradition that supports the community and strengthens bonds.
