In a statement issued yesterday, Central Governor Rufina Peter emphasized the importance of human dignity and the rule of law amidst recent eviction events at the Rabiagini settlement in Port Moresby’s 2 Mile area. Governor Peter stated, “I issue this statement conscious of the sensitivity surrounding recent events at Rabiagini (2 Mile), and mindful of the responsibility leaders carry when state actions result in the displacement of families. This is not a statement of jurisdictional rivalry. It is a statement of principle.”
