Boyd Barrett continued: "Let's remember the calculated, deliberate insults to the Irish Taoiseach last year and to the entire country when he didn't invite the Irish Government. ‌"On Patrick's Day, he didn't actually have the Irish Taoiseach in the White House, he had Conor McGregor. Last year, ahead of St Patrick's Day, the Taoiseach met with Mr Trump, who assured that he would not "do anything to hurt Ireland ". White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed her delight at the guest choice for St Patrick's Day, stating she "couldn't think of a better guest to have with us on St Patrick's Day" than McGregor.
