The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, has urged Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo to step down after refusing to join Governor Abba Yusuf in defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing journalists in Kano on Thursday, Waiya emphasized that effective governance depends on loyalty and trust. “This is his personal choice, but it is not right for someone outside the fold to remain in council meetings,” Waiya remarked, adding that trust is the foundation of government operations. He further stated that resignation would be the most dignified option for the deputy governor, noting, “If I were in his position, I would resign.”Waiya’s comments come in the wake of Governor Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC, alongside several lawmakers. He stressed that political differences will not be allowed to hinder governance or the collective welfare of Kano’s citizens.
