Regarding a Letter to the Editor in the Jan. 23 issue of the Peninsula Pulse, suggesting that protests against the Trump administration are bad for our economy and reputation – I couldn’t disagree more. Our Constitution gives us the right to speak out, to gather, to present our grievances to the government. Facts don’t support the assertion that peaceful protests are a detriment to our tourist economy. I believe it’s a badge of honor that so many residents of Door County, rather than shrugging their shoulders, gathered to speak out against the outrages. Like one sign said, “Silence is Complicity.” I’m proud to be part of the greater Door County and national community that wants their voices to be heard.
