HBO Max and Studiocanal are among the buyers of Gomorrah – The Origins, the Sky Italia prequel series to the pay-TV provider’s previous gangster drama.
Beta Films has sold HBO Max rights in German-speaking Europe and Turkey, while Studiocanal has taken it in France, where is likely to play on Canal+.
The HBO Max Germany deal includes rights to the original Gomorrah series and feature film The Immortal.
Marco D’Amore who starred in the original series directed the first four episodes and served as co-writer and artistic supervisor.
The series is created by Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Roberto Saviano, who wrote the book the original series was based on.
