THE University of Stirling has maintained its place at the top of UK student football, winning the men’s top universities league for the fifth time in six years. The triumph further underlines Chris Geddes’ side’s dominance of the Premier North – the premium student football league in the UK – having won it on five occasions since 2019. Nottingham pulled a goal back in injury time, before Jay Burns added a fifth for Stirling before the final whistle. Many footballers who have come through the University of Stirling programme have gone on to play in the Scottish Professional Football League. “The BUCS Premier North is a highly competitive league, comprising the best student footballers from across the UK, and to emerge victorious for the fifth time in six years is a fantastic achievement.
