The campaign “Malta: No Music for Genocide” is organising a national protest on 21st February, at 3pm, beginning outside Parliament in Valletta. Its ongoing genocide in Gaza has claimed over 70,000 Palestinian lives, most of whom are children, and has destroyed the territory. The protesting entities also said that the arts and cultural sphere, including Eurovision, cannot be separated from these realities. They also went on to say that cultural platforms are used by Israel to launder its violent reputation. One example they cited was that last year, during the genocide in Gaza, the Israeli broadcaster allocated a record budget for its Eurovision participation, while Russia was immediately barred following its invasion of Ukraine.
