Opposition leader Alex Borg has insisted that there is “no place for towers in Gozo,” saying his earlier remarks on the subject were misinterpreted and “spun” out of context. Borg was speaking during a podcast interview with Jon Mallia, where the two revisited comments Borg had made in a previous interview that sparked criticism from environmental groups. “You have areas where you can’t have [towers]… but you have areas where there could be towers perhaps,” Borg had said, referring to the need for regulation. Those remarks were criticised by Graffitti and the Coalition for Gozo, who said Borg appeared open to high-rise development on the island. “There is no place for towers in Gozo.
