He was installed during an Evensong service on Tuesday, January 13, by the Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Stephen Lake, succeeding his previous role as canon treasurer at the cathedral, a position he held since 2022.
The office of canon chancellor exists in many English cathedrals, and is responsible for growing the cathedral’s work in theology, learning and outreach, working with a broad range of communities both inside and beyond the cathedral.
Canon Kenneth will be moving from his current role of Canon Treasurer at the Cathedral, which he has held since 2022.
"I am excited to begin a new phase of ministry as canon chancellor, working with our amazing visitor and volunteer teams and to discern fresh opportunities for faith exploration among all ages at the cathedral."
Ahead of the service, the chancellor designate took the Oath of Allegiance to the King and the Oath of Obedience to the Bishop of Salisbury.
