Sarah Egerton submitted the plan to demolish the existing property at owner of Uplands in Bisterne Close, Burley, and construct a new dwelling in its place. Bats are present on site and an ecological assessment was originally submitted with the planning application. The appeal argues that, if the current building is retained, substantial alterations and repair would disturb the roost. The new house would be 30 per cent larger than the current property and would be oriented to the east rather than south. It would retain some similar features to the existing dwelling like decorative barge boards and clay tile hanging with brick walling.
